Journey of a Lifetime

The short version: I was born with Cystic Fibrosis, lived the life of a dreamer, only to find out as an adult that dreams do come true. This is my story of being a CF patient for 30 years, married to an amazing man, dealing with infertility, creating our little girl Scarlett through the help of a great friend and gestational surrogacy, and during all this, waiting for the gift of new lungs to save my life and to allow me to be a mommy. More than anything, this is the story of great hope.

Scarlett Anna Ritchie

There are not enough spaces on this page to describe the way it felt to see our daughter Scarlett come into this world. I could try, and I will, once we have some time, and once I find the words.

Scarlett came into the world on July 17th, 2009, at nearly 3pm. She was a beautiful 8lbs. 10oz. Lots of dark hair and an apgar score of 9/9. She looked up at her mommy and daddy and stole our hearts forever.

We will be forever in awe of our wonderful friend Beth.
