We're at 16 weeks and happy

The second prenatal came and went. I was unable to go, but Beth did a great job in letting me know that everything is going well. The heartbeat is 150, and baby is well. We are both looking forward to the March 3rd appointment in Toronto.

Martin and I have been plugging along. Toronto seems to be in the midst of a warm spell, and we're all reminded that Spring is coming. We're in the home stretch now, with March here within a few weeks. I have to say I get very excited at the idea of Spring and Summer. Toronto is a great place to live in the summer months. By February however, Torontonians are sick and tired of the winter, good ski weather or not.

We have moved forward with a couple of things. First, I have signed up for a prenatal class at a local birthing center. It's called Orange Dot (http://www.orangedotinc.com/), and looks like the program is going to be great for me. It's a little bit on labour and pain management, but mostly about the after care of baby. Bathing, feeding, sleeping, schedules, so on and so on. Some things I know a bit about, some I know nothing about and am looking forward to having some information. The ladies seem very excited about surrogacy, and are looking forward to me sharing my story with the other mom's-to-be. They say that they get adoptive mom's sometimes, but have never had a IP before, and can't wait to hear all about it. I don't mind sharing and think it will be very good for me, even just to meet other mom's my age in the neighbourhood.

Second, I have started to plan the shower with my sister-in-law Angie. It's going to be fun, and I can't wait to celebrate with the women in my life. I hope to have lovely warmer weather in April/May, and have a wonderful day celebrating baby and mommy, and surrogate!! It will be Beth's day too.

I have to say I am really enjoying reading the other blogs, by all the other ladies and gents, about surrogacy, pregnancy, IVF, CF....the list goes on and on. I love being let in into other peoples lives, their happy moments, and the sad ones. There's something so refreshing to read about the lives of real people. With no pretension, no fakeness, no lies. Just people sharing with other people. I have to say the world of blogging is a refreshing one, that I have grown to really adore. Keep up the great posts everyone!!

Peanut: mom and dad are so curious as to what you are. Our little boy, or our little girl. We don't care which one it is, we just want you here with us. We are planning, and making changes to our lives now to make your coming home comfortable and special for us all. That moment seems to be really far away, but as Spring is closer, I know so are you.

Seriously it will fly by! I feel like we were at 16 weeks yesterday and now we're 28 weeks on Saturday and the start of the 3rd trimester. Things will really start moving quick soon! Especially since you have the shower to plan and the classes to attend and once you find out the gender you'll be knee-deep in room preparations! So hang in there because summer is just around the corner!

I agree wtih ITBP, 16 weeks seems far but once you get to 28 weeks, 34 weeks, baby in arms you think back and say...wow, I can't believe we're already here, seemed to go so fast. At least from my side of things anyway.

150 BEATS PER MIN! I totally support my vote...GIRL GIRL GIRL!

I'm so glad baby is doing well, and Beth too! I agree about the blogging, it's a privlige to get to peek in on the lives of others, and learn about things you want to learn about etc. It really is a network of friends. I love it!

I am excited for you taking the mom-to-be class, how fun. You will wow them with your story girl!!

I love the peanut messages too. My nickname growing up was peanut(my dad still calls me peanut)!

I enjoy reading other surrogacy blogs too. It's nice to feel part of a community. It will definitely fly by--it seems like just yesterday we were 16 weeks and today we are 24!
