It's been a while....

It seems like I have been so busy with the house, my health, Martin being sick, and reading other blogs, that I have not been writing at all. It has really been a long week.

Martin has been sick for nearly a week, only now feeling somewhat better. He never gets sick, so it was strange. I avoided him as much as I could, and only got a bit of a cold, but am feeling better now, so hopefully (!!!) I am going to be able to avoid IV's for another little while. Continue the good streak.

So we have moved ahead with a lot of things in the house. I am happy to say that our floor is done. A little bit about the house: Our home is nearly 100 years old, and is built the old fashioned way, narrow and tall. Ground floor, basement, second floor, as well as a third floor that has 2 bedrooms (1 with an ensuite) that are beautiful rooms full of storage closets and cathedral ceilings. We love those spaces, and only now will have someone there to occupy them. The room with the ensuite will be for the nanny, and the other room will be the nursery.

Anyhow, so, our floor is done. We have our bedroom and bathroom that were always finished. What we needed to do was to turn the little room that used to be a blue baby room (we kept in empty but previous owners used it as a nursery) into our office. And our office into a spare bedroom. The spare room will be for my mom who may want to help us during that time, or for Martin and I to sleep when the baby is here, and Martin has to work in the morning. Basically to keep everyone in the house happy and comfortable. So, we painted the baby blue away....used a nice neutral (we're neutral people we are!!) and made a nice comfy office. I use it to run Babytones and BLOG!! A picture is below. I think I'm blogging there on my laptop, and watching Oprah!!! (I know, I know...I love Oprah I can't help it!!!)

So, then we painted the other room that used to be the office. A really big office that was a total waste of space. We had to get new furniture for that room, and I love what we ended up with. It looks awesome, and the bed is SOOOO comfortable. A pic below:

I was not able to get a better picture of the front of the room (I need a better lens) but there is a arm chair on the left side beside the fire place, and a book shelf. The space is warm and comforting, and will serve us well this summer. I am just thrilled to finally have all the rooms on our floor done. We have been in this house for about 1.5 years and since we did not know about the baby situation we wanted to make sure that we were going to stick around. Now we are NESTING like crazy.

Now, the top floor is almost done. The nanny room, as well as ensuite bathroom are all done and ready for someone special that will help me care for our baby. But the nursery is just being started. Here are the pre-pics. We are painting this weekend. Right now it is a baby blue that I need to get rid of. I don't love the colour, and don't love the fact that it's been there for years and years. So we're saying bye bye to the blue. It will also be a neutral.

Above are the 4 views of the room as it is now. Nothing done. Walking in you face the window. That's the first picture. Then the left wall, and the right wall. The last picture is facing the door way.

The next pics that I will have up will be the finished product, which might take a few more months to complete. We are not in a hurry, but certainly want everything to come together a month or two before our little one arrives. For peace of mind.

Today we are 156 days until the big day. Both Martin and I are doing great, and so is Beth. I cannot believe that February is nearly over!! Spring is coming, and our little one is growing. In just a bit over a week we are going to know the sex of our baby, which is such a thrill!! It will make us closer to our baby, and really allow us to bond thinking about raising a little boy or a little girl. I cannot wait until March 3rd.

Your house is looking terrific!!! I love old houses. We are going to be house shopping this spring. I'm hoping we will be able to sell ours. I would love an old fixer upper, but they are very hard to come by in this area. You just can't beat the old hardwoods and crown molding.

I'm so excited about the upcoming ultrasound... whoo hoo!
